Some days, the best thing you can do for your community is simply show up, sneakers laced, heart ready, and a cause worth walking for. That's exactly what happened at the RotOlympics Annual Walk-a-Thon, held at the stunning St. Toolies River, a beloved natural landmark sitting right at the border of Clarendon and Manchester.

Why we walk

This wasn't just a stroll through beautiful scenery; every step had a purpose. The Walk-a-Thon was organized as a fundraiser in direct support of the May Pen Hospital Development Project, with the goal of raising funds to build a chapel, counseling, and telemedicine facility at the hospital. For a community where access to mental health support and remote healthcare is so critically needed, this facility isn't a luxury, it's a lifeline. At RotOlympics, we believe that sport and community go hand in hand. The Walk-a-Thon brought both together beautifully giving people a way to stay active, have fun, and contribute to something far bigger than themselves, all in the same morning.

The Community Showed Up

With approximately 20 participants turning out on the day, the energy was infectious. Families, friends, club members, and community supporters came together, all walking with one shared intention. The laughter, the conversations, and the shared sense of purpose

made it clear that this event was about far more than fitness. In true RotOlympics fashion, safety was a priority. We partnered with May Pen Hospital to have a medic and ambulance on-site throughout the event because when your community shows up for you, you show up for them in return.

More Than a Fundraiser

What struck us most about the day wasn't the numbers, it was the spirit. People came because they cared. They walked because they believed that May Pen Hospital deserves better, and that a chapel, a counseling room, and a telemedicine facility could change lives in Clarendon. That kind of community buy-in is something you cannot manufacture, it has to be earned, and we are grateful for every single person who walked with us. The funds raised that day are going toward making that vision a reality. And while the journey to completing the facility has had its challenges, RotOlympics is not stopping. We keep walking literally and figuratively.

See You in August

The good news? The Annual Walk-a-Thon is coming back this August and we want YOU there. Whether you walked with us last time or this will be your first, we welcome everyone who wants to be part of something meaningful. Stay connected with us for updates on the date, location, and how to register. Because when RotOlympics moves, the community moves with us.
